Anchoring and Rooting

Anchoring and Rooting

(5 minute Read)

We’re familiar with the process of grounding where we put our feet to earth and that helps release energy while connecting, it helps us even receive a frequency energy from the earth. It’s also been seen as a life philosophy of stability but somewhere along the way, “grounded” became synonymous with permanence—as if stability meant choosing once and never moving again. As if clarity was something you arrive at, and then remain inside of indefinitely., there are 2 processes that I want to expand on what they are and bridge them to use in a living strategy or perspective towards life: Anchoring and Rooting.

Go with me for a second on a visual ride. You are on a ship, you are the captain of this ship. The body of the ship represents you in your human form, the color of the ship, its sails, every detail, its all of your choosing. And at the helm is the captain, your soul, deciding where this ship sets sail (your birth chart is your ships operating system and your GPS). As the captain, you’re sailing this world and see an area that looks good. You throw down your anchor and decide to explore, if its not for you, you hoist that anchor right back up and sail more until you once again decide to put your anchor down.

Now this new island, you are really liking. The more you see, the more you love, the more you venture. You went from beach to forest, the hills, the caves, you venture all around this island, you build on it, you grow farm. It feels like home now. This essentially is the process of Anchoring and Rooting.

Anchoring is a decision you make, it’s deciding on where you want to stand, and rooting is expanding more into that stance, branching out from that central position and growing in the stability of your decision. This is my new life perspective. And this comes from a person who finds it so hard to choose that I end up in analysis paralysis a lot, but instead I’ve decided to just anchor into whatever I want, whenever I like, even if it’s just for a short while because in this life, we have free will. We can take our ship in whichever way we want to take it, even if that means multiple stops. You don’t need to be certain to begin—you just need to be willing to choose.

And at any stop, we explore into that stance. We can gain stability in exploration. Rooting is what turns a decision into something you can stand on. This is to empower you dear reader, there is no one way to look at this, but I offer this perspective for reinforcement of your own power. Stability is not found in staying still, but in trusting your ability to move with yourself.

Seeing your patterns is powerful.

When you begin to air your shadows, things start to become clear—why you react the way you do, where you’ve been holding yourself back, what you’ve been avoiding, and even the strengths hidden beneath it all. You begin to gather something new: awareness, insight, skills… your gold.

But awareness alone doesn’t change your life.

You can see everything clearly and still find yourself repeating the same cycles if nothing shifts in how you move.

This is where many people get stuck.

They stay in observation. In understanding. In reflection.

But there comes a point where you are no longer meant to just see—you are meant to apply.

With everything you’ve uncovered, everything you now understand about yourself, you are no longer navigating blindly.

You have tools.
You have clarity.
You have a sharper sense of direction.

And now… it’s time to set sail with it.

And what am I talking about? Well after shadow work and the reflection period, your identity has been changing. Who you thought you were is now in a malleable form. I recommend using this time for curiosity and play. Willing to play with your new tools, and curious about which direction you want to take this new identity in, So I’m introducing you to a new concept: Anchoring and Rooting.

Go with me for a moment.

You are on a ship. You are the captain.

The body of the ship represents you in your human form—its structure, its design, every detail shaped by your experiences and expression. At the helm is you—your awareness, your soul—deciding where this ship sets sail.

As you move through the world, you come across different places—different opportunities, identities, directions. Some you pass. Some you pause at.

And after all the shadow work that you’ve been up to, with your ship up to date, and your new gps system and tools, when something calls you to explore deeper, you drop anchor.

Not because you’re certain.
But because you’re willing.

Anchoring is a decision. It’s choosing where you want to stand—if only for a moment—and allowing yourself to engage with what’s there.

If it’s not for you, you lift the anchor and move on.
If it is… you stay.

And when you stay, something begins to happen.

You begin to root.

You explore further—beyond the surface. What started as a single point of decision begins to expand. You move from the shoreline to the forest, the hills, the caves. You build, you grow, you understand. What once was unfamiliar begins to feel like something you can stand on.

Rooting is the process of expanding into your decision—building stability, depth, and embodiment from within it.

This is the perspective I’m choosing to live by.

As someone who has struggled with analysis paralysis—constantly questioning, hesitating, waiting to be sure—I’ve learned this:

You don’t need certainty to begin.
You need willingness to choose.

And from that choice, you can grow.

Because stability is not found in staying still—
but in trusting your ability to move with yourself.

Awareness becomes your internal GPS—guiding where you’re called to go.
Anchoring is where you choose to land.
Rooting is exploring where you’ve landed.
